A manicure is a treatment of your hands and nails performed by a manicure, a specialist in hand and nail care. A standard manicure usually consists of a hand bath, filing and polishing your nails, pushing back your cuticles, painting your nails and applying a nourishing hand cream. You can extend a manicure with a hand scrub, a hand massage or a hand wrap. You can also choose to have artificial nails applied.

The price of a manicure varies per salon and depends on how extensive the manicure is. If you only want to have your nails painted, you will lose between € 10 and € 15. Do you choose gel polish? Then you are slightly more expensive. That costs about € 25. For an extensive manicure you will lose between € 30 and $50. The application of fake nails quickly costs about € 55.

How do you do a manicure yourself?

A manicure can be quite expensive. Is that why you prefer to work yourself? How to do a manicure yourself:

File your nails with a nail file  in the shape that suits your nails and hands. File in one direction (not back and forth) and do not apply too much force. Otherwise, your nails may tear or break.

Polish your nails with a polishing file . Note: Polishing makes your nail bed thinner. Therefore, do not do this too often.

Scrub your hands with a hand scrub for silky smooth hands.

Prepare a lukewarm hand bath and soak your hands and nails until soft and supple.

Dry your hands and nails well and apply some nail cream or nail oil on your nails and cuticles.

Gently push back your cuticles with a cuticle pusher  and cut loose sheets with nail scissors .

Paint your nails in a color of your choice. Let the nail polish dry for about ten minutes. For an optimal end result, first apply a base coat and finally a top coat.

Finally, apply a nourishing hand cream . During the application you can give yourself a relaxing hand massage.
